Earthmoving, Excavation & Grading

Earthmoving, excavating, and grading- Here at Mountain Engineering we pride ourselves in our equipment and earthworks services. Whatever your earthworks job is we have the right machine and operator tailored for you, there is no job too small, large or difficult. Typical earthworks include roads, causeways, dams, levees, canals, and berms. Other common earthworks are land grading to reconfigure the topography of a site, or to stabilize slopes. Whether your job requires materials such as road base, fill, Geofabric & rocks or other attachments, we are more than happy to supply that for you also. We also have a large variety of attachments to tailor our Excavators & Posi Tracks.

Utility Construction

Mountain Engineering extensive experience providing a full-spectrum of construction services on multi-use landscapes, right-of-way, energy corridors and special management areas; with each project tailored to a client’s specific need. We specialize in linear construction/service projects that involve roadways, transmission line right-of-way and energy corridors that cross multiple land ownerships and involve a variety of regulatory requirements.

Mountain Engineering uses advanced technology to support field construction activities, including global positioning system (GPS) units and geographic information systems (GIS) technology, to ensure accuracy in determining project locations, layouts and boundaries.

Mountain Engineering is also experienced in implementing wetland, riparian, streambed and habitat restoration projects for a variety of public and private sector clients. Mountain Engineering has successfully obtained CDF&G Streambed Alteration Agreements; implemented SMARA mining reclamation plans; and is currently implementing a native trout restoration/habitat project as part of a FERC-related mitigation.


Electrical Transmission & Distribution

From remote rural locations to busy downtown streets, our crews deliver overhead and underground electrical transmission and distribution services in even the most challenging terrains and circumstances. Our professional extensive workforce, combined with our equipment fleet, and professional services allows us to effectively meet our clients’ needs for electrical transmission and distribution, emergency and ongoing maintenance. Mountain Engineering efficiently constructs and installs quality end-to-end electrical transmission and distribution systems. Gas Transmission & Distribution

Installing and maintaining natural gas pipeline systems can be a major undertaking, but Mountain Engineering is equipped with the innovation, capabilities, and resources to meet any demand on-time and on-budget. We provide gathering, upstream, midstream and distribution construction services for oil and natural gas pipelines. Our experienced staff works to achieve the highest levels of safety and quality for each project, ensuring that the natural gas pipeline can withstand extreme pressure and environments with long-term reliability and safety. In urban and rural environments, our trenching capabilities allow us to minimize disruptions to traffic, homeowners, and businesses, as well as coordinate with multiple other companies to integrate various utilities and communications services in one trench. In rural or remote areas, we utilize specialized equipment to quickly move earth and cut through rock. Substation

Mountain Engineering works with companies, cooperatives, and municipalities to successfully manage all phases of substation and switchyard construction. We have the resources and experience to deliver turnkey, ground-up solutions for alternative and direct-current stations (from 500kV and down), but are also adept at installing, testing, and connecting prefabricated equipment.

As leaders in the industry Mountain Engineering is assisting utility companies to optimize their existing network of substations and switchyards to meet increasing power demands. Mountain Engineering upgrades and/or integrates new equipment to facilitate more efficient and reliable energy distribution through monitoring systems.

One of the major drivers in the development of new distribution systems is changing technologies, such as PLC controls and Solid State transformers. Gate & Fence Fabrication, Repair & Installation

Gate and fence fabrication consists of the installation and repair of preexisting structures along right of ways, but may also include the installation of a new structures.

Repairing a preexisting structure could include simple repair or complete replacement. Installation of a new gate would be done completed by Mountain Engineering to perform the construction of the access point. This would be done to insure the safety and protection of a right of way to a preexisting project.

  • Establish the location for a fence, and gather information needed to ensure that there are no electric cables or water lines in the area.
  • Determine appropriate locations for operations or installations.
  • Measure and lay out fence lines and mark posthole positions, following instructions, drawings, or specifications.
  • Measure work site dimensions.
  • Mark reference points on construction materials.
  • Discuss fencing needs with customers, and estimate and quote prices.
  • Communicate with clients about products, procedures, and policies.
